The use of the L-system enables the design of complexity through recursive execution of simple rewriting rules. The L-system eliminates the need for defining systems bit for bit by defining its growing rules instead. Small changes in the rules can cause large effects in the output yet still retain overall functionality. The L-Garden program is a tool for generating and evolving growing rules for drawings through genetic algorithms. The execution of the rules produces commands that lead to abstrac ... continue

Chaos and chance in food? The ingredients are: 3 basics ( Greek pancake, French Crepes, buiscuits ), 3 fillings ( bananas , pears, pudding ), 3 toppings ( almond mush, almond paste, nuts ), 6 spices ( white pepper, lime peel, ginger, cardamom, cinnamon, ... ) and a dice. By throwing the dice five times, each person decides of which ingredients his food is composed. He or she gets one of 1728 possible combinations.

The simple and complex structures of websites are constructed by lines and lines of code. A structure that relies on perfection, one misplaced character and the whole structure can be corrupt. The internet really is code connecting and structuring large sums of information together. No one really ever pays attention to the code other than the person who wrote it. It is what the code creates that is important. But what if we use the code as a musical score, what are we to expect, perfection? Hardl ... continue

My termproject at Art and Technology dec 2006, was a collection of creation narratives and cosmologies from all over the world, stored in a database and presented randomly at a white wall. These texts are huge in quantity and the collection is a continuing work. Depending on their lenght, several texts has been splitted up and are presented in several parts . A written program is regulating the texts (the splitted pieces as well) to be projected randomly and to alternate between all texts in a fa ... continue

Imagine 34 people receiving the assignment of spying on each other. Not allowed to reveal their target and without knowledge about who is supposed to follow them. A good reason for building my own little spying ecosystem. First all the little figures are placed randomly into their limited world. They are assigned to spy on a specific other person and only try to follow that task by following a set of rules. They search, they spy, they move and they hide. After a while they establish a rather stab ... continue

HelloWorld creates real conference calls with up to 9 people from different countries at once. The people dialed are randomly selected from a database for each country. The audience selects the countries by pressing keys labeled with the countries' flags. All calls are recorded and can be listened to later on the HelloWorld homepage. HelloWorld is part of the Art & Technology FUTURE exhibition at the IT-ceum in Linköping between December 2006 and February 2007. More information on HelloWorld. Ca ... continue
